I'd also like to know why. I know Windows has a tendency to delete files randomly (which I found out the hard way), but that's only if you keep Windows and Linux on the same disk. I don't, so I don't have this problem.
You can do it on a single HDD, but you may run into some trouble. Do some research on it, since it's too much information to convey in a Reddit comment
